Why I’m taking a deep breath…

Inspirational Stories‘When you are standing in that forest of sorrow, you cannot imagine that you could ever find your way to a better place.

But if someone can assure you that they themselves have stood in that same place, and now have moved on, sometimes this will bring hope’

This quote by Elizabeth Gilbert encapsulates the aim of my Inspirational Stories.

As you know they’re personal stories written by women who stood in that forest and are now living a fulfilling life. They demonstrate through real stories WHAT they did, they pass on advice and describe how being childless has changed them.

I know how much the stories resonate with you and how they show you that:

  • You are not alone and
  • What paths you might take to walk out of the forest.

After almost three years I have over 30 stories and some patterns have emerged, and it’s time to go a step further.

So this year (deep intake of breath) I am writing a book.

I want to demonstrate, through real stories what’s possible and how to achieve that, so it will be based on the stories and action they took.

When you read it, you’ll learn:

  • Through real stories, the varied ways we came to this place we call childless.
  • What specifically these inspiring women did to walk out of that forest, and I’ll teach you how to follow in their footsteps,
  • And you’ll also read about the gifts available to you, once you work your way out.

I’m really excited and I hope you are too.

And to be honest, I’m slightly overwhelmed too.

As you can see from this image I’m the proud owner of an elaborate pattern of post it notes containing the structure and timeline.

As with most plans I’m sure it will evolve and change over time and I know it feel easier once I’ve converted it into a Word document. I’ll keep you posted, sharing my thoughts and excerpts as I progress.

Doing this is only possible because of the brave and wonderful women who’ve shared their story with us. I know it’s not easy and I am extremely grateful to you all.

If you’d like to explore the stories, you can do so here – and please be sure to check out some of the early ones.

As I’ll be spending more time writing, I won’t be taking on any new clients on the Let Go and Move On Programme for a while. I hope you’ll understand.

What do you think?

If you’d like to leave a comment, especially on the themes and anything you’d like to read about, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  1. That’s fantastic news Lesley – it will be such an inspiration for those who feel lost. I know that when I found out that my future would not involve children, I was looking around for examples I could learn from but there weren’t any. Looking forward to reading it!

  2. Wow, so happy to hear you’re going to create this as a resource, Lesley.

There is a real need and it’s good to know that someone with your courage, honesty and integrity is going to pull it all together.
